Bluepoint Web Design ~ Services

Website Design / Website Development - The Process

Bluepoint understands that you have many options when it comes to hiring a web designer to construct your website. We believe in the importance of fully comprehending your needs and ideas before starting a project.

Bluepoint offers a complimentary consultation during which we ask questions and listen to your thoughts to reach a solid understanding of what you envision for your website's design and structure. From this information, we prepare a proposal that clearly details the bottom line for your project before you get started, so there are no surprises along the way and you know what each dollar is paying for. To help you get started, our downloadable Website Planning Guide (PDF) can direct you in determining your needs before our first meeting.

Website Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO begins with your website design and continues during the website development.

Various SEO techniques designed to target your desired audience are included in our proposals at no extra cost. We also offer SEO tips to enhance your marketing strategy. For an additional charge, we can include link building, placement of paid ads and creation of social media and networking accounts.

Domain Name Assistance

Your domain name is what allows you to exist in the Internet world. Some tips for choosing a domain name.

Bluepoint can assist you in selecting an appropriate and strategic domain name, determining its availability and registering the URL to create your web address.

Web Hosting Assistance

Every website is 'hosted' by an account that stores its pages and makes it accessible to the internet.

There are many reputable hosting companies and some that you should shy away from. Cheaper is not always better. Bluepoint can recommend hosting companies that are consistently rated among the top 10 and several that we have worked with personally. We include the set-up of your web hosting account in your contract.

WordPress ~ Blogs & Content Management Systems (CMS)

WordPress is currently one of the most popular blogging platforms and has also become a robust Content Management System used by companies such as Ford, Network Solutions and WSJ (Wall Street Journal) Magazine just to name a few.

If you are interested in maintaining your own site, we highly recommend building your site on this platform to ensure a high level of customization and usability. If you would like more information about a blog or CMS, we are happy to help!

Website Maintenance

If you want to uphold your competitive edge online, your website needs to reflect what your business is ideally doing - changing, growing, progressing! Keeping your website content fresh ensures that your customers, old and new, are getting current and accurate information about your business.

Updating content, such as announcements and articles, checking to make sure that outside links are still working, and refining your site for search engine optimization are all essential maintenance issues that Bluepoint can manage for you. Our hourly maintenance fee is $55; however we can offer a discounted price with a signed maintenance contract. If you wish to take charge of maintaining your website, we can design it in a manner that will enable you to do so, as long as we have prior notice before site design has begun.

Website Statistics

Once your website is complete and published on the internet, we will create an account for you on Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool offering detailed statistics about visitor traffic to your site. The tool can be used to track all the usual site activities: visits, page views, pages per visit, bounce rates and average time on site, etc. We can track and email these reports to you on a monthly basis for a small fee, or you are welcome to track the information yourself. A Google account is required to track the data. Read more about Google Analytics.

Other Marketing Tools

If you are a small business and you don't have a website - or at least an online presence - you are not using all the resources available to promote your business.

Ninety-four million people in America are online everyday, and 64% of them use the internet to search for local businesses. If your marketing budget doesn't allow for a website right now, there are other ways you can obtain an online presence. For a small fee, I can assist you in creating online listings on search engines, online directories, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Ultimately, a website is one of your most important marketing tools, but this can get you started.

  • Choose a name that is short and easy to remember; preferably less than 10 characters long. (Not including the suffix)
  • There are many extensions available today - .com, .net, .biz. Choose one that will fit your business, although the most common one associated with a business is .com. It's one that people will think of first
  • Avoid using a trademarked name or sound-alike; it can get you into trouble
  • Register the domain name you have chosen today! It may not be available tomorrow
  • It can be useful to choose and register more than one domain name. You could register a .com name and also the same name as a .net so no one else can take it. Sometimes it's even a good idea to register a misspelled version of your .com name that can be re-directed to your real site
  • Remember to only use letters, numbers and dashes. No symbols or spaces are allowed; and don't worry about upper or lower case - either one is recognized when typing it into a search engine
  • Registering a domain name is not expensive, so don't be deceived into spending a large amount of money
